Oil Free Compressed Air – Providing Continuity & Reliability

Key Objectives

The Challenge

Stoats are leading producers of oat based food products including porridge oat bars, porridge pots and traybakes. A new product line meant an increase in demand and the old compressor equipment was deemed unreliable.  No bypass meant that servicing was an issue as there was no alternative but to stop production while any servicing was being carried out.  To support the increase in air demand; ensuring production continuity, Stoats required a reliable solution that met their objectives and was compliant with ISO standards for oil free air.

The Solution

We carried out a site survey and the data was collected to understand air usage.  Due to the nature of the product being manufactured, oil free air is essential as even the smallest drop of oil risks contamination and severe consequences.  We installed a complete compressed air solution consisting of two oil free screw compressors that meet the class zero standard and refrigeration dryer ensuring highly effective removal of water vapour from the compressed air, maintaining the quality.  This new solution meant production no longer needed to rely on one unit and it also future proofs the system for future growth in production.  We also modified the pipework to give a bypass which will ensure production up time when any servicing is being carried out
