Objectives

The Challenge

The production areas in SAS were experiencing significant heat build-up, creating an uncomfortable working environment and raising concerns about equipment performance. Poor air circulation within the space meant that heat accumulated throughout the day, particularly during peak operational periods.

SAS required an effective solution that could reduce internal temperatures and integrate well with the existing electrical infrastructure. Any system installed also needed to accommodate varying roof pitches and avoid extensive structural modifications wherever possible.

The Solution

To address these challenges, an integrated ventilation and evaporative cooling system was designed and installed. The solution incorporated an EcoPower EP900 Hybrid Ventilator and an H900 Hybrid Ventilator, both supplied with standard base flashings and varipitch throats to suit roof angles between 0 and 22.5 degrees. Electrically operated dampers were installed alongside each unit to enable controlled airflow and improve overall system efficiency, with control and power cabling provided to ensure reliable operation.

In addition to the ventilation system, three Breezair TBS580-G Evaporative Coolers were installed to introduce cooled fresh air into the production space. These units were linked with controllers to allow effective management and optimisation of cooling performance. Supporting infrastructure, including water pipework, fittings, and drain valves, was installed to assist the cooling system. The coolers were mounted using purpose-designed wall bracketry and electrical supplies and cabling were installed and connected to the existing busbar and distribution boards, enabling a seamless integration without the need for major upgrades to the site’s power infrastructure.

The Result

The completed installation successfully transformed the environmental conditions within the production areas. Excess heat was effectively extracted while cooled air was introduced, resulting in a reduction in internal temperatures and a significant improvement in airflow. This created a more comfortable and stable working environment for staff while also supporting the reliable operation of equipment. By combining hybrid ventilation with evaporative cooling, the system delivered an energy-efficient and practical solution.
