The customer operates a large distribution facility supporting high-volume logistics operations, with regular vehicle movements taking place throughout the site.
The new distribution facility was designed to accommodate frequent vehicle movements, with drivers regularly entering and operating within the building.
With vehicles operating inside the space, carbon monoxide sensors were installed at low level to monitor exhaust fumes. The ventilation system needed to respond automatically to these readings, increasing air movement within the relevant area when CO reached a predetermined set point
If levels did not reduce within a preset period, the system also needed to bring additional fans into operation, providing a staged response based on conditions within the facility.
CPA supplied and installed a combination of jet vent and axial fans throughout the new warehouse. Jet vent fans were suspended from the ceiling, while the axial fans were mounted to steelwork approximately 10 metres high on the front wall.
The fans operate through two separate control panels and respond to carbon monoxide monitoring at ground level. When CO reaches a predetermined set point, fans within the affected area are activated to increase air movement and reduce the reading. If the CO level does not fall within a preset period, additional fans are automatically brought into operation to provide further ventilation.
Following installation, extensive testing was carried out by CPA alongside project personnel and the controls contractor. Each carbon monoxide sensor was tested to confirm that the relevant fans activated in the correct sequence.
Testing confirmed that the complete system was operating as expected, with the ventilation responding correctly to the CO monitoring controls.
