Scottish Leather Group is a leading UK manufacturer of sustainable leather, supplying high-quality products to a wide range of industries.
After the existing fold-up door at Scottish Leather Group was damaged beyond repair, it could no longer close correctly. The door was left closed and isolated by engineers to prevent any odours escaping from the building that could breach environmental requirements.
However, this closure had a direct impact on day-to-day operations and productivity. Forklift drivers were forced to use a longer alternative route, adding unnecessary travel time to every movement within the facility. As a result, loading and unloading operations became slower and less efficient, internal product movement was delayed, and forklift traffic began to build up across key access points.
Following a full site assessment, it was determined that the damage to the existing fold-up door was beyond economical repair. To provide a reliable long-term solution, we carried out a complete fold-up door replacement and direct swap with a fast action door.
The new door restored access through the main entrance, allowing forklift operators to return to their normal routes and improving the overall flow of goods throughout the facility. It also enabled the site to remain properly enclosed, ensuring Scottish Leather Group maintain compliance with environmental requirements regarding production odours.
Scottish Leather Group had been very happy with the performance of the original door, so replacing it with an identical model provided a familiar and dependable solution. The new door is now operating correctly and to the required set parameters, restoring reliable access to the facility. Forklift drivers were therefore able to use the most efficient routes once more, reducing unnecessary travel time, easing traffic, and improving the speed of loading and unloading operations.
