Sealing Efficiency: Minimising Heat Loss and Pest Entry at Nairn’s Oatcakes

Key Objectives

The Challenge

During deliveries at Nairn’s Oatcakes, forklifts frequently entering from the yard led to the warehouse entrance being left open for prolonged periods of time. This unintended exposure generated significant heat loss and created access for pests, such as birds, to enter the storage area. These issues not only affected the internal environment but also posed risks to product integrity and operational efficiency.

As such, Nairn’s Oatcakes required a solution that would minimise heat loss, prevent pest ingress, and support energy efficiency without disrupting the continuous flow of forklift traffic.

The Solution

Following a thorough site analysis, we recommended the installation of a Fold Up Fast Action Door to enhance operational efficiency and building protection. This would enable Nairn’s Oatcakes to maintain quick and convenient access to their facility while significantly minimising heat loss and deterring pests.

The Fast Action Door was installed internally, in front of the existing sectional door within the delivery zone. To streamline operations, the door is controlled via remote fobs mounted inside the forklifts. This allows drivers to easily open the door as they approach and securely close it after use.

The Result

We have since received positive feedback from Nairn’s Oatcakes; the door is operating effectively, facilitating easy access for deliveries while reducing heat loss and pest ingress. Overall, the installation has delivered a robust, reliable, and energy-efficient solution that meets both operational and environmental requirements.
